New Pattern + Aurifil Embroidery Challenge

Happy September! I hope you're having a wonderful month. Im popping in to show you my next challenge project with Aurifil Thread including a brand new pattern release!

Keep reading to see all the details and get the pattern :)

I'm using four shades of Aurifil's 12 wt. thread for this simple iron-on transfer embroidery pattern from the Sweet Stitches book by Aneela Hoey.

The great part about this book is that it's filled with more than 250 embroidery designs that you can cut directly from the book and iron onto fabric. Each design can be ironed multiple times. It is a genius idea!

I chose this simple design from the book featuring three thread spools and the word SEW - because it reminded me so much of large Aurifil spools!

For the thread, I chose shades #1237, #1148, #2860, #1104. I coated each thread with Bee Gloss thread conditioner before sewing to get smooth stitches and less knots. I did simple back stitches and cross stitches for the entire pattern.

This project was a great "palette cleanser" for me after finishing my 14th quilt of the year, and Lord only knows how many bags and pouches! Sometimes I really need something different and quick to work on

On to the new pattern....

Meet the Retreat Pouch. This pouch is constructed in a similar style to the Popcorn Pouch, in the way that the top is finished, but many other aspects of it are definitely different including the way the exterior is pieced, the way the bottom corners are finished, and the way the lining comes together. So if you're a lover of the Popcorn Pouch this will be a great addition to your collection!

The Retreat Pouch is a hanging pouch that can lie flat or expand up to two inches to accommodate your most used sewing notions and supplies while traveling with your machine! It is 6" wide, 8" tall, and 2" deep and holds rotary cutters, scissors, and more!

One of the best things about this pattern is the ease in which it comes together and its ability to be hang literally anywhere - even your machine! It can hold your essentials and keep your work area less cluttered wether you're at a friends for a sew day or on a weekend retreat!
